SUMMARY:Evolving the Traditional Student Cluster Competition as Tomorrow’s
  “Peachy Assignments”
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nEvolving the Traditional Student Cluster Competiti
on as Tomorrow’s “Peachy Assignments”\n\nBane\n\nThe evolution of HPC teac
hing at Liverpool makes use of typical student cluster competitions as stu
dent assignments, to help learn both technical and soft skills. It has bee
n identified that these competitions offer learning opportunities for stud
ents. Specifically, by participating, students would practice their techni
cal skills but also soft skills such as group work, meeting deadlines and
report writing. However, there are specific barriers to directly using the
competitions for students learning HPC, including: the fixed time of inte
rnational conference competitions; rules limiting the number of teams per
institution; potential privacy issues relating to submissions and marking
of assignments; and potential conflict of IP ownership.\n\nTag: Education,
