SUMMARY:Benchmarking In Situ Triggers Via Reconstruction Error
DESCRIPTION:Workshop\n\nBenchmarking In Situ Triggers Via Reconstruction E
rror\n\nKawakami, Marsaglia, Larsen, Childs\n\nThis work considers evaluat
ing in situ triggers using reconstruction error. Our experiments consider
data from the Nyx and Cloverleaf simulation codes, and focus on two key to
pics. The first topic aims to increase understanding of total reconstructi
on error, both with respect to the impact of adding more time slices and w
ith respect to the variation from different time slice selections. The sec
ond topic evaluates performance for two current approaches: entropy-based
triggers and evenly spaced time slices. Finally, we use these study compon
ents to construct a benchmarking system that enables visualization scienti
sts to reason about triggers.\n\nRegistration Category: Workshop Reg Pass
